You will be required to get proper flight training first before you can be granted a pilot’s license. Whether you are going to be a commercial or private license, you have to fulfill a set of requirements from the FAA (Federal Aviation Authority). One of the requirements is to prove that you have attained a minimum number of flight hours depending on the license you are applying for. The license could be a student license, private pilot license, commercial pilot license, and others.  Your flight training should also have been acquired from an accredited flight school.

You may go for flight lessons on aircraft including charter sightseeing flights, skydiving planes, private planes, cargo planes, commercial jet planes, helicopters, and so on. The minimum age at which you can begin solo flight training is 16 years. You will also be required to have a clean medical certificate and you must be able to operate the equipment. Moreover, you will also have to take a written exam before you can get a pilot license.

Contrary to what many people think, flight training does not take too long and is not very expensive. Anyone who is determined to learn to fly will find the training fascinating and will rapidly move to higher licenses. There are many flight schools you can choose from. However, ensure the school you go for is certified by the FAA and has other aircraft associations’ accreditations.  You can also get your private pilot license in one month if you get a competent flight instructor.

Flying is a fulfilling activity and you can get your pilot license within a short time if you are determined and dedicated to flight training.  Commercial pilots have to take periodic refresher course to keep themselves abreast of new aircraft technologies that may have emerged.
